Gua Maria Tritis

Hello..here is the long awaited story about Gua Maria Tritis, the most memorable shrine that I visited last May. It might not be as elaborately decorated like shrines in Europe, but the fact that this shrine is a natural cave really makes this shrine special. The journey to this shrine from the centre of Yogyakarta takes around 3 hours through mountainous area. One of our friends got motion sickness because of the never-ending-turning-road. The shrine was built in 1974.

The place was very quiet. To reach the shrine, you can choose either to take shortcut and park your car near the top, or you can do way of the cross from below. Along the way, there were old ladies offering us to rent their umbrellas. They kept following us even though we said we didn't want, but they didn't ask for money at the end.
