Things I do at home, but I do not do in Sg!

1. Singing in the bathroom
compulsory songs: At the Beginning (Anastasia OST.), Aku bisa (means "I Can" ) --> this one is only during exam period
other songs: according to mood
a. neutral mood:  other Anastasia's soundtrack: Once Upon A December etc, Sherina's songs (childhood songs, Indo songs :P
b. falling in love: We Could Be in Love - Lea Salonga, Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for you.. If I'm in the state of "why-this-guy-is-stupid-and-cannot-understand-my-feeling" : D'Cinnamons 'Selamanya Cinta', Maliq n D'Essentials 'Untitled'
c. broken-hearted: too many songs...actually most of the songs in my playlist or "must-sing-list" are in this category *duh*.. but broken-hearted also has different stages: from asking "why oh why", till 'letting-go' state..hahahaha..and each stage has different theme song :P:P

While in Singapore I never sing in the bathroom because it's a public bathroom..Hehehehe..Moreover, I often take shower very late at night, so I'm scared people think A2 bathroom has ghosts singing.. :P If I can't resist the feeling to sing in bathroom, I'll hum very very softly :P:P

2. Eating rice with only one type of vegetable or meat
my menu at home:
Rice + bakwan jagung (haizz...how to explain? hmm... ried mixed egg+corn+flour? but my mom adds shrimp too :P)

or

Rice + potato soup with sauce and "chopped" meat (notes: I am always lazy to chew..that's why the meat is always chopped till it becomes super-small!! and that's why I prefer fish fillet to meat because meat in dining hall is always too huge for me..)

or

Rice + any other soup
Rice + fried shrimp/egg/chicken

While in Singapore I always eat 1 meat + 2 veggie..

3. Calling my bestfriend just to say "hello" and spend time just to keep silent and feel each other's presence without necessarily saying important things.. :P
But I have not done this activity at home this time..hehehe..

Of course I do not do it in Singapore...I don't have home phone and hand phone calling fee is expensive.. I can't believe I even have to pay when I receive calls :(:(

funny conversation with my bro

one beautiful morning, I went out of my house, stretched my arms and smiled,
me: "kyaaaaa...it's been a long time since the last time I saw sun rise"
my bro: "Singapore doesn't have sunrise??"
me: "Singapore has sunrise, but I never woke up this early."

One saturday afternoon, me and my bro were watching MTV..i dunno what boyband it is..something like typical-westlife-backstreet boys 10 years ago.. They were singing and jumping 'only', with cute face of course..and girls screaming "wahhh wahhhh" and one looked at another with this face "OMG...he's so handsome...."

me: did Westlife dance some choreo like this? (pointing to the TV)
my bro: Nope. Westlife only finds seas and rivers and cliffs then they sing there...
me: oh ya..with horses too!!

err...actually the conversation doesn't sound funny when I re-write them... =.= ahh nvm...

The journey of my 6 Lions and Kanok

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii..

Before I'm going to take a nap, let me let you know the situation of my "6 Lions and Ta Kanok Pleow". The pattern at the background is called "Ta Kanok Pleow", "Pleow" means fire. In Thai painting, there is not only a central focus. The painting usually requires you to look around all over the painting and "Ta Kanok Pleow" is normally used as background.

Thanks for Legionaries who have prayed for me yesterday. I survived YEAY!! actually around 4am I felt like I was coloring 'half-consciously' *duhh* Thank God the drawing didn't go wrong... hehehehe

Initially, there were only 5 lions

We can put dragon, squirrel, etc in between Kanok. But I don't dare to draw squirrel. I tried once and my lecturer said it looked like soft toy. Hahahaha

One of the portfolio. I am quite dissatisfied with this image. Something is still wrong with the proportion :( But I love the details. The 'triangular' thing arond the chest is called "krajang", basic shape in Thai painting. The 'flower' part in the middle of the neck is called "Dok Prajam Yam"

I added another lion coz I couldn't imagine if I had to draw the whole bottom-left side with kanok. Too confusing..

"Mommy Mommy" said baby Lion..

"Roar......."

It looks more complicated when I have not coloured the picture

games: spot the lion..and spot the dragon :P (there are 6 small dragons :P)

Started coloring this on Tue nite..

I didn't expect the gold and red blend well for my lions. I love the colors. Evi, my roommate, said looks like Chinese New Year. Hahahha

This was done on Wednesday

I was coloring from 10am-3pm till this point

This part was done after Legion meeting. Thai painting really trains your patience and perseverance. Personally I am  a type of person who is easily get bored. Even though my archi friend recommended me to color all black then all gold, I need to see progress so I color black and gold in one area before moving to another area. Btw, the baby lion's eye looked like "Stitch" in Lilo & Stitch. Don't you think so? :P

"Trada.........."

now all lions are colored :):) I use different red pen for the last two lions and I like the pen more than the previous pen. The pen that I used for the first 4 lions was too 'watery'

it hurts.. Yeah.. Apparently coloring from 10am to 7am hurts my finger. The last time my fingers were aching was when I played piano back in high school. At this point, I was awake but I felt so tired and my hand was aching (when I wrote previous post)

Fingers were Squeezed by pen...Lots of prayers were offered last nite. Hehehe. I remember Oli said, when I'm doing one lion, just imagine you offer up your sacrifice in drawing that to a particular person. Hehehehe.

Keep "jiayou"-ing myself at this point. I really wanted to finish it by 7am coz I had quiz at 8am

Thank God!!! The prayers really work. I finished it around 7am. :) Unfortunately, when I did this, I colored the gold marker over the black lines so you can't really see the details of the black lines inside the kanok. I tried to outline again after my class at 10am, but didn't have enough energy and dozed off till1pm. Hahaha..

Me and Florence, painting-buddy, roommate during fieldtrip in Bangkok.

Peeping through Kirril's drawing. Soooo intricate!!!

With our lecturer, Dr. Irving. Thanks for MAKING this module (yeah...we are the first batch !! )
Me and Drawing
I used to draw (in fact, a lot of my classmates either "used to" draw or "want to choose A (design/art) but parents said..." --> ended up doing what they're doing now.
My 'golden moment' of drawing was primary school. I used crayon and my mom sent me to a lot of competitions. I rarely won, hahaha, but I enjoyed drawing and coloring, especially making the gradation of color. I still have the small foldable desk that I used for drawing.

Somehow my drawing ability decreased in secondary school. Hahaha. We didn't use crayon anymore. They taught things like painting using Chinese ink, making logo ( I remember I draw 'CITY' with building around the block letters), and drawing and shading objects (eg you put bottle in front of boxes). In high school, I used canvas for the first time (well, now I realized it was the only time I used canvas). I painted Mount Merapi and I loved the result. Hehehe. Then after we were streamed to science stream, the arts lesson became perspective drawing lessons (you know..the architecture type of drawing: view from above, view from side, view from front). Nothing fun about it. It's just "something that you have to do".

I think now I'm very convinced that I cannot draw realistic figure. Hahahaha. I draw pattern better than human. I can see pattern's proportion and balance better than human. Actually when I drew lion for portfolio, I was quite surprised that the proportion was ok :) Coz the last time I drew animal was in primary school. Hahahaha.

So that's the journey of "6 Lions and Kanok". I dunno when I will draw again, but thank God for bringing me back to my childhood moment through drawing. :):) Let me post my friend's video on our fieldtrip to Bangkok. My friend (also my lecturer's friend) did her master's in NUS and she's a reporter. Hehehe
When we went to Bangkok, we had not learned about human proportion. That's why I drew the details first (which is wrong. :P) but It was such a nice feeling to sit in front of mural and draw. Hahahaha.

Really really Thank God for the learning experience. :):)

headache

my head starts spinning,
my fingers are aching and start trembling..
i wish my left hand could take turn with my right hand

and i have not finished coloring!!! 2more hours before I left my room for Thai quiz and presentation..

JIAYOU!!!!

good morning!

another sleepless nite...
i did my drawing and my 10% group report (max 10 pages, each page 1%)...

in the queue list:
1. Thai listening quiz on Thur 8am (i hope i dont fail this test..this time no MCQ..must write the answer..i hope my effort to listen to Thai songs these days will be fruitful..)
2. Portfolio on Thur (should be ok if my lecturer said "OK" tmr during consultation..if not? another sleepless nite :P)
3. Review Paper on Fri nite.. (going to finish it by Thur..i wanna draw my final project the whole day and start studying!! I have not revised at all!!!!)

Final Project

Plain Lion..(before)

After...

My effort to remember Thai words..accompanied by monkey imported from Pechtburi :P

Characters everywhere

very hard to remember Thai 'pin yin' (phonetic version..)

I gave up drawing human after 3 weeks trying ..

So I replace my human with hanuman..i hope it's ok now..last week the head was too small --> lecturer: Fernindaaaa why do u draw so small?? Ferninda: coz I'm small.. :P

Another portfolio (I must submit three) This is the accessories in Hanuman's arm, based on painting in Grand Palace. I like this pattern even though it's quite simple compared with my friend's portfolio. But I don't care about grades anymore.. I just LOVE this image.. :) ps. middle flower --> painting failed HAHAHA "sorry Ferninda, no way back..."

My first time drawing animal since the last time I drew animal in primary school!!! :P Thanks to the 'wrong' photo that I took in Thai arts school, my lecturer allowed me to copy the detail from a book. :)

SEe the bird?

super random.. cut my wallet to save my phone!! the zipper was broken!! (why are my stuffs all broken at the same time???)
TIME TO SLEEP :):)

morningggggggggggggggggg...........sleep tight...have a nice dream.. :)

for someone who came to my dream last nite

I guess this is the effect of "karaoke-session-along-Singapore River" with Ci Tania and Van.

For someone who came to my dream last nite,
a nice person, unfortunately not the right one :)

Thanks for the memories..
